Second Grade

My mission statement as an educator is to create a positive classroom environment where all children feel successful, are active learners and express themselves as individuals. I believe children need to be surrounded with multiple opportunities for reading and writing across the curriculum to solidify a strong foundation from which to build. Positive reinforcement to good behavior and work ethic are rewarded daily with verbal acknowledgment and recognition.

Graduated from Jamesville-Dewitt High School in Dewitt, New York (suburb of Syracuse)

Graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Elem. Ed.

Graduate Studies from the University of TN, Knoxville

I grew up in Syracuse, New York and got my B.S. from the University of Pittsburgh in Elementary Education and I have done graduate work at the University of Tennessee in reading. I have loved teaching Kindergarten and first Grade in Tennessee and Florida for 24 years and second grade in Virginia for one year. Living in eleven states and experiencing their diversity has been a wonderful blessing. My son, Spencer, is a Navy Seal and is stationed in San Diego with his family. My daughter, Tara, is living in Denver as a psychotherapist. My husband and I love to hike and snow ski and get away whenever possible. Throwing pottery pieces on the wheel is my passion that I long to get back to.
