Dear
Families, Please
remember to work with your child fifteen to twenty minutes each night. It may
be a good idea to write our sight words on index cards to help your child
practice. We are sending home a list of our words. Please practice them each
night. Additionally, your child may want to find the words in the books that
they read. We are now working with our reading groups. We will work on the students pointing to
each word as they say it, using the beginning sound of the word to help them
“get their mouth ready” to say that word, and using the picture to help them
figure out the text. If your child is having trouble with letters and sounds,
it is important to work on it as much as possible to help with his/her
reading. In math, work on numbers to twenty, patterns, and characteristics of
shapes (example: which shapes have four sides). Sincerely,
